We are looking for a person who has

  1. A qualification in Social Work and is registered with the SACCSP
  2. Computer literacy (MS Word and email)
  3. At least 3 years’ experience as a social worker, preferably in an NPO environment
  4. Proficient in English and Afrikaans
  5. Drivers’ license essential
  6. Preference will be given to EE candidates in the final selection process

Salary: R15 309.00



  • To provide compassionate and professional psycho social support to patients and their families as a part of the palliative care inter-disciplinary team.


  1. Patient and family care
  • Assessment of psycho social and spiritual needs of patients including a 3 generation genogram
  • Care planning
  • Patient and family visits in the communities of Langeberg
  • Identify and co-ordinate support groups where appropriate
  • Advise, educate and support relatives and carers of patients
  • Liaise with volunteers to run a day programme for patients
  • Liaise with volunteers and manager a bereavement service including an annual remembrance service
  1. Inter-disciplinary team
  • Actively participate as a member of the Inter Disciplinary Team iro care plans
  • Assist with building the cohesiveness of the IDT
  1. Professional responsibilities
  • Work within the SACSSP scope of practice for Social Workers
  • Remain current in Social Work, palliative care and NPO work knowledge and skills
  • Adhere to code of professional ethics
  • Attend palliative care training as available
  1. Administrative responsibilities
  • Ensure patient records are comprehensive and current
  • Complete statistics as required
  • Participate in staff meetings
  • Assist with strategic and annual planning as requested
